Nissan Security+Plus Online Purchase Process

Step 1: Determine Eligibility

Before purchasing a Nissan Security+Plus plan, confirm your vehicle's eligibility:

"New" Plan Eligibility

  • Vehicle must still be under Nissan’s original 36-month / 36,000-mile warranty.
  • The plan starts from the original warranty start date and zero miles.
  • The vehicle also qualifies for the "Used" plan, giving you a choice.

"Used" Plan Eligibility

  • Vehicle is outside its original 36-month / 36,000-mile warranty.
  • The plan starts on the date of purchase, and mileage is added to the odometer reading.
  • Vehicle must be 9 years old or newer to qualify.
  • Any vehicle that is outside its orginal Powertrain Warranty will also require an inspection.  It's a form that will come with the contracts but can also be downloaded here:  Security+Plus Inspection
  • To verify your factory warranty status, use the Nissan Warranty Check.

Title Requirement:

  • Your vehicle must have a clean title history. Salvage, branded, or rebuilt title vehicles do not qualify for Nissan Security+Plus coverage.

Step 2: Select Plan Type

The terms “New” and “Used” refer to your vehicle’s current warranty statusnot whether you purchased the vehicle new or used.

  • “New” Vehicle Plans are available only if your vehicle is still within Nissan’s original 36-month/36,000-mile factory warranty. These plans start from the original in-service date (the date the vehicle was first sold new) and begin at 0 miles on the odometer. Example: If your Altima is still under factory warranty, you may qualify for a “New” plan—even if you bought it pre-owned.
  • “Used” Vehicle Plans are designed for vehicles no longer under the original factory warranty. These plans start from the date you purchase the plan and the mileage is added on top of your current odometer reading. Example: If your Altima is out of warranty, your plan will start from today’s date and your actual mileage.

Important: Some vehicles qualify for both plan types, depending on their warranty status. It’s not about whether you bought it new or used—it’s about the vehicle’s warranty status at the time of Security+Plus purchase.

Key Differences Between Plans:

  • "New" Plans start from zero miles and the warranty start date.
  • "Used" Plans start on the purchase date and add to the current odometer reading.

Step 3: Choose Coverage Level

Pick the protection plan that fits your needs:

  • Gold Preferred – Covers nearly all components, including electronics (97% of buyers choose this option).
  • Silver Preferred – Covers fewer components but still offers strong protection.
  • View the full component comparison chart for details on covered components.
