Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
What is Nissan Security+Plus?
Security+Plus is Nissan's official extended service contract program. It adds coverage after (or alongside) the factory warranty for specified components and services, rental reimbursement, and trip interruption benefits. Contracts are administered by Nissan Extended Services North America (NESNA).
Is this backed by Nissan or a third party?
All plans offered on this site are backed by Nissan Extended Services North America. Repairs are performed at all authorized Nissan dealerships using genuine Nissan parts.
Can I buy online?
Yes. All listed Security+Plus plans are available to purchase online in all 50 U.S. states.
Eligibility & Plan Types
Eligibility at a glance: Current model year + prior nine (9) model years (e.g., 2017+ in 2026). Maximum mileage at time of purchase: 100,000. A Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR) is typically required once outside the Nissan Powertrain Warranty.
Ineligible: Salvage/rebuilt titles, true mileage unknown (TMU), voided factory warranties, frame or flood damage, vehicles outside time/mileage parameters, most commercial uses (except Nissan Commercial Vehicles). Ride‑share (Uber/Lyft) is not considered commercial.
What's the difference between "New" and "Used" plans?
New Plans
Available only while the vehicle is still within Nissan's original 36‑month / 36,000‑mile basic warranty.
- Start date: Original in‑service date
- Mileage: Begins at 0 miles
Used Plans
For vehicles no longer under the basic factory warranty.
- Start date: Date you purchase the plan
- Mileage: Added to your current odometer
Whether you bought your car new or pre‑owned doesn't matter—only your current warranty status determines which plan type you qualify for.
What about Certified Pre‑Owned (CPO) vehicles?
Nissan CPO vehicles may qualify for unique CPO Wrap coverage that extends beyond the Certified Limited Warranty:
- 7 years / 100,000 miles
- 7 years / Unlimited miles
- 8 years / 120,000 miles
All CPO Wrap plans feature a $0 deductible and qualify for 0% installments. Coverage begins from the manufacturer's original in‑service date.
Important: Must be purchased within 90 days of certification. CPO Wrap plans require verification and are not listed online—contact us for rates.
Coverage & Benefits
What's the difference between Gold, Silver, and Powertrain Preferred?
These tiers differ in the breadth of covered components. Gold Preferred is the most comprehensive (and most popular), especially for advanced electronics and tech features.

Is a specific item covered (infotainment, ADAS, turbo, hybrid, etc.)?
For quick reference, see the Component Coverage Chart. For contract terminology, review Section 4 (Covered Components) and Section 8 (Exclusions) in the sample contract.
